Project Description

University City, District of Columbia (UCDC) is a proposed redevelopment of the air rights over the parking garage and 395 at 2nd Street and H Street N.W. Washington, DC. The program is a mixed-use educational, residential, and commercial redevelopment in a highly visible location. The design envisions an iconic clear span structure which merges the form of the building with the site.

A series of structural arches span the width of the lower level highway, which are then infilled with pre-fab rooming units which are hung from the superstructure. The ground level and lower level are occupied by commercial spaces and university functions. A series of terraces organize the indoor-outdoor spaces of this newly conceived urban campus.
